Tredegar
House, situated in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, dates back to the seventeenth
century and now houses The Black Hill Gallery. The gallery was opened
by Crispin Thornton-Jones in January 2006, providing a permanent
home for his work and giving visitors the opportunity to buy direct
from the artist, or simply to enjoy the work.
The changing exhibition includes original oil paintings and high
quality limited-edition prints. Visitors are welcome to come and
browse. The artist is happy to discuss commissions of new work. |

Hay-on-Wye lies at the foot of the
Black Mountains which straddle the historic and much fought-over
border between England and Wales. The town is famous for its annual
literary festival and bookshops. Most of the paintings displayed
in the gallery reflect the unique and often quirky spirit of this
landscape. The rolling Herefordshire farmland with its
unspoilt patchwork of small fields and its river valleys dotted
with ancient buildings contrast with the bleaker upland slopes of
the Black Mountains and Offa's Dyke. |
